Catifes (Carpets) was created during the 1st term of the 2019-2020 academic year with participants of “Dilluns ballables” in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles. Initially, the piece was developed during Monday’s classes, inside the wide school gym, and then was adapted to the very different dimensions of the attic in St. Pere’s new library.

I started working with the idea of movement on a small carpet, at home, in conditions of limited space; how can one move when conditions are not ideal, and how can one take the dance from class to their home? I developed the physical aspects of this initial idea and shifted the individual work toward communicative patterns in space.

Dancing on carpets at home became a reality for all of us, 3 months later, with the beginning of covid-19 restrictions.
